A Frontier Corps (FC) official and a Policeman were killed while one FC sustained injuries during an exchange of fire in Chatkan Bazaar of Panjgur District on January 7, reported The News. A handout issued by the FC said that the FC had received information about presence of a militants involved in attacking Security Forces in Chatkan Bazaar. “An FC patrolling team reached the site to arrest the suspect who ran into a street adjacent to the bazaar. The FC team chased the suspect, and during that time, two persons riding a motorcycle tried to halt FC personnel in order to provide a chance to the accused to escape. The two persons opened fire on FC team injuring one FC personnel, Muhammad Akhtar, seriously,” said a spokesman for the FC.

According to the Frontier Corps (FC) sources, the raid was carried out to capture some criminals. A tribal elder of Zehri, Mir Batay Khan Zarakzai, alleged that Security Forces, supported by some tribal elders, had attacked the house of Sardar Inayatullah Zehri, adding that innocent people were killed and injured in the firing.

An unnamed Police officer said that armed militants attacked the convoy of Frontier Corps (FC) in Chah-e-Sar area of Turbat. He said the FC personnel quickly retaliated and five militants were killed on the spot. The officer stated that the FC recovered weapons from the possession of militants. He said that there were no reports of fatalities on the part of the FC.

Frontier Corps (FC) on April 7 claimed to have killed more than 30 militants in Parodh area of Kalat District, reports Dawn. Khan Wasey, the FC Spokesman said that the forces launched an operation against militants in Kalat District's Parodh area. He further added that 10 security personnel also sustained injuries during the operation and the "Forces also destroyed six vehicles of miscreants". "There is an intense firing between forces and miscreants", Wasey added. Security Forces also claimed to have recovered rocket launchers, hand grenades, hand-held bombs and other arms and ammunition from the possessions of militants. Provincial Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti confirmed that the SFs seized a large quantity of weapons during the raids and that 10 members of the paramilitary force were wounded in the fighting. The FC Spokesman claimed that the targeted militants were involved in recent attacks on passenger trains, Security Forces (SFs) and other vital installations in different parts of the province.

According to an FC Spokesman, the miscreants fired on an FC patrol party in Tasp area of Panjgur. As the forces retaliated, the militants left three motorcycles on the spot and entered a hideout. An exchange of fire took place, during which three miscreants were killed and their bodies were recovered. A few other militants were injured and managed to flee.

According to official sources, at least two security personnel were killed and one was injured during an exchange of fire with drug smugglers in Mashkel area of Washuk District on April 28, reports Dawn. Both sides used heavy weapons against each other. An un-named security official, said that when Security Forces tried to stop a convoy of drug smugglers in Mashkel, they opened fire in retaliation, killing two personnel and wounding another. “The smugglers were trying to sneak into Iran, when the exchange of fire took place,” he said, without disclosing the number of smugglers. He said the armed smugglers sped away in their vehicles after the incident. A huge contingent of the Frontier Corps (FC) was deployed in the area to arrest them.

At least 12 militants, wearing suicide vests and armed with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and automatic weapons were killed and 11 Security Forces (SFs) were injured in an 11-hour gun battle near Khalid Aviation Airbase and Samungli Airbase in Quetta on August 14, reports The Express Tribune. Earlier it was reported that six militants were killed. The SFs also detained five suspects in a search operation conducted in connection with the attack targeting the Samungli airbase. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Ghalib Mehsud faction claimed responsibility for the attack on the Airbases in Quetta. Ghalib Mehsud is the leader of Fidayeen-e-Islam which is the suicide wing of TTP. Commander Southern Command, Lieutenant General Nasir Khan Janjua said, "They all seemed to be foreign nationals."
