Security forces (SF) gunned down four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Talsar area of Hoshab in Kech District of Balochistan Province on January 18, reports Dawn. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an IBO was initiated “to clear a hideout linked with firing incidents on security forces along M-8, in general area Talsar, Hoshab” on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists. “As a result of continuous intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) of the area, a location of terrorists was identified and security forces were heli inserted [to nab the terrorists].” During the heavy exchange of fire, all four terrorists were killed, while a cache of arms and ammunition including improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was also recovered from their possession, the ISPR added.

A cache of weapons and ammunition, including explosive material, was recovered from the terrorist hideouts. Radio Zrumbesh quoting the claim of Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) reported that seven SF personnel were also killed in the exchange of fire. BLF ‘spokesperson’ Major Gwahram Baloch said in a statement that the BLF cadres attacked the convoy of four vehicles of Army with rockets and automatic weapons.

A suspected militant, linked with a banned militant outfit, was killed in an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) conducted by the Security Forces (SFs) in Awaran District of Balochistan on February 24, reports samaaenglish.tv. According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the SFs had received information about the presence of a group that was planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the area targeting SFs, following which an operation was launched. During the operation, in the ensuing exchange of fire with the troops, a militant was killed. Later, the troops recovered a heavy cache of arms – including light and heavy automatic weapons, ammunition, detonators, and explosives from the possession of the militant. A flag of a banned outfit was also recovered.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said the IBO was initiated on March 15 to intercept a terrorist group operating in the general area of South Awaran. The terrorists were linked with firing and improvised explosive devices (IED) incidents along Turbat-Awaran Road and surrounding areas, read the statement. “Based on credible information, multiple ambushes had been laid along different routes in the area frequented by the terrorists for the last three days,” said the ISPR. A group of three terrorists was intercepted while moving towards their hideout, the ISPR said, adding that on being blocked, they opened fire on the SFs. During the ensuing heavy exchange of fire, all three terrorists were killed, while a cache of arms and ammunition has been recovered.

Resultantly, a party of three terrorists was intercepted while moving toward their hideout. A statement issued by the CTD said the Quetta CTD received information from a credible source that “notorious TTP sharpshooter” Shakar Din alias Umar Khalid, along with his other associates, was “spotted at a hideout in Surkhab Muhajir Camp in Pishin, and he fully armed, in preparation of another terrorist attack”. Seeing the CTD personnel, terrorists opened fire and in a retaliatory fire four of the terrorists were killed. The statement identified Din’s associates as Ahmadullah, Aminullah and an Afghan citizen, Abdul Fateh.
