The arrestees, identified as Nabi Baksh, Dur Muhammad and Nurdin, were going to Sui sub-District of Dera Bugti District from Sindh in a pickup van when Police stopped and searched the vehicle and recovered 150 kilogrammes of homemade explosive material and arrested them. Meanwhile, a Frontier Corps (FC) trooper was shot dead and five others, including a woman, were injured in a gun battle between assailants and FC forces in a small village of Turbat in Kech District. A vehicle of FC was on routine patrol in Dasht Gokdan area, some five kilometres from Turbat town, when two armed assailants riding a motorbike opened indiscriminate fire on them. Resultantly, a trooper died on the spot while two other personnel received bullet injuries. The two assailants were arrested after an exchange of fire and were taken into custody by Police. FC personnel seized seven pistols, two repeaters and more than 100 bullets during the arrest.

Two militants were arrested in Dhadar area for their alleged involvement in attacks on tankers carrying oil for NATO forces in Afghanistan, reported Dawn. It was reported that the Levies Force personnel signaled six militants to stop on the road linking Sibi to Bakhtiarabad but they opened fire. In retaliation the Levies Force returned the fire and arrested the militants identified as Murad Ali and Rehmat. The Levies Force also seized a Kalashnikov, a TT pistol, four bottles filled with explosive chemical and a motorcycle. During interrogation, the arrested militants said they used to attack and torch tankers carrying oil for NATO forces in Afghanistan.

Younis al-Mauritani was picked up in the suburbs of Quetta along with two other high-ranking operatives of al Qaeda, said Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on September 5. Cooperation between the CIA and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) led to the arrests by the paramilitary, ISPR said. “In an intelligence-driven operation by Inter-Services Intelligence in coordination with Frontier Corps Balochistan, a senior al Qaeda leader, Younis al-Mauritani, mainly responsible for planning and conduct of international operations, was nabbed,” ISPR statement said. “Al-Mauritani was tasked personally by Osama bin Laden to focus on hitting targets of economical importance in United States of America, Europe and Australia,” the ISPR added.

The boy, who was identified as Abdul Khaliq, told Police during initial interrogation that Aslam, alias Zubir, had handed over the bomb to him for planting it inside the Imambargah. Those abducted were identified as lady doctor Shenaz, technician Muhammad Asad and workers Noor Shah and Mohabbat Khan. After the Security personnel were informed about the incident the Levies personnel chased the abductors near Barshore and opened fire on them, killing five abductors and arresting another after the armed clash. One Balochistan Levies official said, “The abductors belonged to Waziristan Agency in Federally Administered tribal Areas (FATA) and were taking the hostages to Waziristan via Zhob route”.
