Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy, informed the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Indian Parliament) on September 21, that there are 90 Districts across 11 States in India which are Naxal [Left Wing Extremist, LWE] affected and are covered under the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme, reports Republic World. These include 19 Districts in Jharkhand, 16 Districts in Bihar, 15 Districts in Odisha, 14 Districts in Chhattisgarh, 8 Districts in Telangana, 6 Districts in Andhra Pradesh, three Districts each in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala, two Districts in Madhya Pradesh and one District in West Bengal. Sharing the details on Naxal violence, Reddy stated that the violence was reported in 61 Districts in 2019 and 46 Districts in the first half of 2020. He further added that there has been a steady decline in violence and the geographical influence of Naxalites in the country.
