On June 20, Hiren Nath, Assam Inspector General of Police (IGP) (Special Branch) said that all the members of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) belonging to four factions, who laid down arms and came to mainstream would be rehabilitated by September, 2021, reports Northeast Now. During the inaugural function of “Skill development for self-employment of youths of BTR and other parts of Assam” in Kokrajhar District of Assam, IGP Nath stated though covid pandemic had delayed the rehabilitation process, yet ‘as many as 1429 cadres of the NDFB have already been given INR 4, 00,000 each in their account as part of rehabilitation and the Government of Assam has already earmarked an amount of INR 160, 00, 00,000 for complete rehabilitation. Further, IGP Nath stated that a special pre-recruitment training for the NDFB members to absorb them in different paramilitary forces according to their qualification and all the pending cases against the former NDFB members will be withdrawn in a phased manner.
