Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) on June 21, responding to National Socialist Council of Nagaland -Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) allegation, has stated that the proposed Karbi Peace Accord is for all the indigenous people, reports Northeast Now. KSA said that the organization regards the Rengmas, Dimasas, Kukis, Garos, Khasis, and all scheduled tribes or indigenous inhabitants living in Karbi Anglong District of Assam as its own, reports East Mojo. KSA further made an appeal to the leadership of NSCN-IM to look after the non-Naga indigenous tribal communities living in Nagaland by ensuring equal political rights and privileges as enjoyed by the other major Naga Tribesmen and declaring Rengma Nagas dominated Tseminyu in Nagaland as a District.
Meanwhile, United Naga Council (UNC) has welcomed the formation of Core Committee on the Indo-Naga Political issue by the Nagaland Government, reports E Pao on June 21. UNC stated that Core Committee under the initiative of Chief Minister (CM) Neiphiu Rio will be able to intervene and forge the long and frequent stalemate in the negotiation between the Government of India (GoI) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM). Further, UNC proposed that an elected member each from Assam, Arunachal and Manipur be included in the Core Committee, for better co-ordination, but only after meeting the select committee’s criteria.
