At least four people including three Policemen and a civilian were after terrorists attacked a Police post near Lachi Toll Plaza in Kohat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in the night of January 9, reports ARY News. The dead Policemen were identified as Amjad, Junaid and Waqar. The attack triggered a gunfight that lasted for a while after which the terrorists were forced flee. “The militants used sophisticated weapons, we collected evidence of M-4s and M-16s”, an investigating officer said, adds The Khorasan Diary.
At least two Policemen were killed in a late-night terrorist attack on a Police checkpoint in Regi Model Town area of Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on January 9, reports ARY News. “Two constables Wajid and Farman were martyred while two others sustained injuries in the terrorist attack,” a spokesman for the Peshawar Police said.
At least two Policemen were killed and two others injured as terrorists attacked Policemen deployed for protection of the Polio team in Miryan area of Bannu District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 9, reports ARY News. Two terrorists also killed in the subsequent operation. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Qasim Ali Khan said that exchange of fire took place between terrorists and Police. The terrorists took refuge in a house however clashes between the police officials and terrorists continued. Later, the District Police Officer (DPO) Iftikhar Ali Shah announced the successful completion of operation stating that a rocket attack was launched at the house where the terrorists were hiding and two dead bodies of terrorists recovered.
The death toll from the January 8 attack on a Police van in Bajaur District rose to seven on January 9, reports Dawn. At least five Police personnel were killed and 22 others were injured in a bomb attack on a Police vehicle in Mamond tehsil (revenue unit) of Bajaur District on January 8. The Police personnel were on their way to perform security duty for polio vaccinators when their vehicle was targeted. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed the responsibility of the attack. On January 9, Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) also claimed responsibility of the attack.
