The Border Security Force (BSF) in a joint operation with Punjab Police, recovered a drone along with a packet weighing 515 grams and suspected to contain Heroin from the outskirts of Dal Village in the Tarn Taran District on January 9, reports ANI. "At approximately 06:30 pm, the troops successfully recovered a quadcopter (Model - DJI Mavic 3 Classic, made in China) along with a packet weighing 515 grams, suspected to contain heroin. The packet was meticulously wrapped with yellow adhesive tape and attached to the drone using a metal wire ring for suspension," a BSF release stated.
Punjab Police on January 8 arrested three more members of the Mannu Mahawa gang and recovered 3.5 kilograms of Heroin from their possession, reports Hindustan Times. Those arrested were identified as Balraj Singh alias Kaka of Lahorimal village in Amritsar, Anmol Singh alias Laalu, and Sarabjit Singh, both residents of Ranjhe Di Haveli in Amritsar. With this, the police have arrested 10 persons and recovered 22.5 kilograms of Heroin in the case. Earlier, SATP had reported that Punjab Police on December 31 claimed to have busted a cross-border drug and arms smuggling racket being operated by United States (US)-based smuggler Mannu Mahawa with the arrest of two persons from Amritsar in Punjab.
