The Cabinet on September 2, approved the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, reports Colombo Page. The bill was presented by Justice Minister Ali Sabry at a Cabinet meeting chaired by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The 20th Amendment to the Constitution will be tabled in Parliament in about two weeks. The 20th Amendment is to be brought to overcome the shortcomings of the 19th Amendment. It is reported that except for the Right to Information (RTI) Act and the limitation of the term of office of the President to two terms, the 19th Amendment will be amended.
