A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre was killed in an exchange of fire with Police at Devallagudem forest area in Gundala Mandal (administrative sub-division) of Bhadradri Kothagudem District in Telangana on September 3, reports The New Indian Express. “We had information that Maoist party action teams were moving in the area so we set up vehicle check points. At Devallagudem, our team spotted two traveling on a bike and tried to stop them. The duo opened fire at Police team and we returned fire. One Maoist died in the exchange of fire and the second managed to escape into nearby fields abandoning the bike”, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Dutt said, adding that the identity of the slain Maoist is yet to be ascertained.
