The Security Forces (SFs) conducted an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and killed a high-profile militant ‘commander’ Wasim Zakaria, and his four accomplices on September 7, reports Daily Times. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that 10 other militants were arrested. Wasim Zakaria hailed from the Haider Khel area and since September 2019, had been a mastermind of 30 terrorist attacks. “Terrorist Wasim was involved in target killing activities and the martyrdom of CSS officer Zubaidullah Dawar,” said the ISPR in a statement, adding that the militant was also directly involved in attacks on security forces (SFs).
Separately, three Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants were killed in a gun battle with SFs in the Shahsur Kaskai area of Servekai tehsil (revenue unit) in South Waziristan District on September 5, reports Dawn. According to Police, clashes between SFs and militants took place in the Shahsur Kaskai area when militants attacked a military convoy. Three slain militants were identified as Shamsuddin, Rehmatullah and Adil Khan.
Meanwhile, an Army officer and a soldier were injured in an attack on SFs by militants near Hasokhel Bridge in Mir Ali sub-division of North Waziristan District on September 6, reports Dawn. Officials said the militants attacked a military vehicle near Hasokhel Bridge, injuring a Captain Farhan and Naik Asif.
