A Naga National Council (NNC) militant was arrested from Dimapur in Dimapur District of Nagaland while issuing work permit in the name of United Naga People Government NNC (Parent Body), reports Morung Express on September 7. The arrestee was identified as ‘captain’ Tokishe Yeptho.
On September 4, ‘second lieutenant’ Mika Chophy of Non-Accordist faction of Naga National Council (NNC-NA) was arrested while serving a yearly tax at medical wholesale distributors located at MP Road Dimapur.
Earlier, on September 3, Shikavi Chophy was arrested while demanding money from egg traders at Murgipatti (Naga Bazaar) in Dimapur in the name of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R). Around INR 32,000 in cash was recovered from the arrestee.
On the same day, Lutoi K Achumi was arrested at Naharbari in Dimapur while collecting yearly tax from commercial pickup trucks in the name of NNC/Government Democratic Republic of Nagaland (NNC/GDRN). Cash of INR 7,200 was confiscated from his possession.
Two militants ‘secretary’ Khekugha Aye and Hovikhu Sumi were arrested at 6th Mile in Dimapur while issuing information slips to businesses in the name of the NSCN-R’s ‘ministry of chaplee affairs’ on September 2.
On the same day, a ‘leacy’ in Nikki Sumi-led faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K-NS) identified as Yehoto Aye was arrested for demanding money from truck drivers at Diezephe in Dimapur.
Prior, on September 1, one Alam Shah was arrested in connection to the abduction of a truck driver near the Chathe Bridge (NH 29) in Dimapur. According to Police, the arrestee demanded INR 27,000 as yearly tax in the name of the NSCN-K-NS and National Socialist Council of Nagaland - Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) to release the abducted driver. Later on, the truck driver was rescued.
