Security Forces (SFs) arrested a top ‘commander’ and four others of the proscribed Lashkar-e-Islam (LeI) in a raid in Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on December 18, reports The Express Tribune. The SFs and Police raided a home located in an area under the Bara Police Station in Sipah, arresting Zakir Afridi and his four associates, whose identities are yet to be ascertained. The militants had planned a major terror attack in Peshawar on December 25. As per the SFs, three suicide jackets and six Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered from the possession of the militants. Meanwhile, eight facilitators of the militants were also arrested in a raid conducted in Badaber on the details shared by them. They were shifted to a secret location for further investigation, Police said. The identities of the eight facilitators are yet to be established.
