Foreign handlers funded and directed suspects in the Golden Temple blasts of May 2023 in Amritsar District of Punjab, aiming to disrupt peace and incite religious sentiments, according to the First Information Report (FIR) registered in connection with the blasts, reports The Tribune on May 13. The suspects, identified as Azadbir Singh, Amrik Singh, Sahib Singh, Dharminder Singh and Harjit Singh, have received heavy funds via different channels and were booked under various provisions of the Explosive Substances Act (ESA), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav pointed out that the low-intensity explosions were carried out to grab attention at the global level.
