The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on October 4 shot dead four Tehreek-e-Talban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists during an operation in Buner District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports ARY News. According to the CTD spokesperson, the TTP terrorists were involved in the extortion of money, target killing and other terror activities. Four hand grenades, Pistols, bullets, six kg of explosive materials and other weapons from were recovered from the possession of slain terrorists.
A religious cleric, identified as Maulana Tilla Muhammad, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Shinkot area of Khar tehsil (revenue unit) in Bajaur District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 4, reports The Khorasan Diary. The assailants managed to escape after the firing.
Unknown assailants attacked the car of Tank tehsil council chairman Saddam Bittani with rockets and automatic weapons in Muzai village of Tank District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 4, reports Dawn. However, he remained unhurt. A Police official said Mr Bittani had gone to Maghzai village to offer Fateha. He said assailants sitting in ambush near Muzai village attacked his vehicle with rockets and automatic weapons.
Around eight militants opened fire on the Police station in Kulachi area Dera Ismail Khan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and fired four rocket propelled grenades as well on October 4, reports The Khorasan Diary. Upon the Police retaliation, the militants managed to escape. There was no loss of life. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a statement claimed responsibility for the attack.
In a significant crackdown on terror financing, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police on October 4 arrested 13 people who were allegedly providing funds to terror outfits, reports The Express Tribune. These individuals had reportedly funnelled substantial sums of money, amounting to millions of rupees, to banned terror outfits including TTP. The arrested individuals, described as financiers, were detained in various operations conducted in Swabi, Mardan and other Districts of the province. The Director-General Counter Terrorism Finance Unit Imran Shahid said that those secretly providing funds to banned outfits would face charges related to terror financing. He said that during the past year, 173 cases of extortion had been registered, with 90 per cent of the suspects being Afghan nationals, adding that 60 per cent of those involved have already been apprehended.
