A group of 40 armed cadres of the Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), set ablaze at least five tractors parked at a brick kiln at Kanda village under Bisrampur Police Station in Palamu District of Jharkhand on March 20, reports The Print. The armed TSPC cadres forced their way to the kiln and took away several workers as hostages before they torched the tractors, Palamu Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandan Kumar Sinha said, adding that the ultras, who had their faces covered, fled the scene after the crime andthat it is suspected that the incident took place to extort money.
