Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Chief Monirul Islam on May 7 said militancy emerged in Bangladesh as a result of international and political plots, reports Dhaka Tribune. "Citizens and law enforcement acted actively against militancy, which is why we have not had any major attack since 2016. However, we should not think that it has been wiped out completely," he said. Stating that militants have changed how they operate, he advised house owners to remain more alert while renting out rooms. Urging all to stand against terrorism and militancy, he asked people to help the police by providing information regarding suspicious acts or situations. He has also advised imams and teachers to stay alert about international conspiracies against Muslim countries.
