A militant arrested by the law-enforcement agencies in connection with April 15 encounter in Hayatabad Township of Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on May 4 disclosed that the persons killed in the encounter belonged to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and had also planned to kill Provincial Ministers Shahram Tarakai and Atif Khan through a suicide bomber, Dawn reported on May 8. The disclosure was made by Yasir Shams in the confessional statement recorded with senior civil judge (judicial) Nasrullah Khan on May 4. The suspect claimed that the militants, including Tariq, Murad, Amjad, Irfan, Saeed and Feroze Shah, were known to him and were also involved in the attempt on the life of Peshawar High Court judge Ayub Khan, who was critically injured in an attack in Hayatabad Township on February 28.
