At least nine Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres have surrendered without weapons in front of the central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Police officers at Maraiguda Police Station in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on September 8, reportsenglish.newstracklive.com. Among those who surrendered include eight ‘militia commanders’, including the Dandakaranya Kisan Mazdoor Sangh (DAKMS) ‘president’, with a reward of INR 100,000. Warrants were issued against all the surrendered Maoists in many cases. The surrendered Maoists are identified as ‘militia’ member Uika Bala, resident of Rayuguda, Sunnam Dharma, resident of Tinganapalli, Bedma Ramchetti, resident of Bhattiguda, DAKMS ‘president’ Bhattiguda Sodhi Kosa, resident of Bhattiguda, Chetna Natya Mandli (CNM), a cultural wing of Maoists, ‘president’ Podium Sona, resident of Rayuguda, ‘Economic committee’ member Bedma Rama, resident of Bhattiguda, ‘jan militia’ member Podium Budhra, resident of Rayuguda, Uika Bhima, resident of Bhattiguda, and Bedma Cama, resident of Bhattiguda. Officials said that all these Maoists were involved in various Maoist encounters with active Maoist members of Kistaram Area Committee and Golapalli Local Operation Squad (LOS) under Golapalli and Maraiguda Police Stations area. These Maoists dig the road, damaged Government property, organize a meeting of the Maoist organization, and conduct a rake of the Security Forces (SFs), apart from rations for the Maoists, they used to supply other essential items. All the Maoists who surrendered have 10 cases registered against them.
