The Security Forces (SFs) busted a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) camp in the forest area of Kandhamal District of Odisha after a gun battle with them on March 10, reports pragativadi.com. Based on intelligence, the Special Operations Group (SOG) jawans conducted combing operation at Bhaluguda area near Durgapanga under Belghar and Kotagarh Police Station limits in Kandhamal District. During the operation, the jawans came face to face with the Maoists inside the forest areas and an exchange of fire took place between them for a long period. However, the Maoists took advantage of the dense forest and fled from the spot. The SFs destroyed Maoist camps and seized a lot of materials, including seven hand grenades, three guillotine sticks, wire, blasting machine, solar panels, blankets, umbrellas, medicine, food items, etc., said the Kandhamal Superintendent of Police (SP) Subhendu Kumar Patra. Around 15 hardcore ultras of ‘Bansadhara-Ghumusar-Nagabali (BGN) division’ of CPI-Maoist had camped in the reserve forest, he added.
