On March 9, two civilians identified as Jangminlal and Jangminlen who were brutally assaulted by well-armed militants suspected to be Kuki Revolutionary Army-Unification (KRA-U) cadres in Motbung Bazaar under Sapermeina Police Station in Kangpokpi District of Manipur, succumbed to their injuries, reports The Sangai Express. Sources stated that the incident happened when KRA-U militants came to Motbung Bazar from their nearby camp and started thrashing some youths mercilessly on the suspected charges of being drug users. Another person identified as Haominthang sustained multiple injuries during the incident.
On March 8, Manipur Police arrested one active cadre of Kangleipak Communist Party-People's War Group (KCP-PWG) identified as Mohammad Nawaz Khan (26) from Imphal West District of Manipur, reports Manipur Police on X. He was involved in extortion of money from pharmacy shops in Imphal area.
Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF) and Manipur Police launched a joint cordon and search operation near Mashem River in the general area of Phoisanbung village in Churachandpur District of Manipur during the past 48 hours and recovered one M-16 Rifle, one 9mm pistol, four grenades, one Single Barrel Rifle, one Improvised Long-Range Mortar and war-like stores, Northeast Now reports on March 10. In another raid, the joint team seized eleven Single Barrel Breech Loader (SBBL) guns, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, three Improvised Heavy Mortar Pumpi Guns, four Improvised Heavy Mortar (Pumpi) Bombs, and seventeen rounds of 7.62 mm Ammunition (Sniper) from Churachandpur District.
In a search operation conducted in Kangpokpi District, the following items were recovered: one 5.56mm US Made M-16 Assault Rifle, one 5.56mm M-16 Assault Rifle Magazine, one 12-inch Single Bore Barrel Gun, one No. 36 Highly Explosive (HE) Hand Grenade with detonator, thirty-three Single Bore Live Cartridges, five Fired Single Bore Cartridge Cases, six 5.56mm Live Rounds, one Combat Pouch, one Sling Bag and one ammunition waist belt, Northeast Now reports on March 10.
