One Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and two militants were killed in an encounter in Bandzoo area under Pulwama Tehsil (revenue unit) in Pulwama District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) of India on June 23, reports Daily Excelsior. Incriminating material including two AK rifles and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, Army, CRPF and Police neutralised a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) module and arrested four associates of LeT militants from Puthka Muqam and Chanpora Athoora in Sopore area in Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) of India on June 23, reports Daily Excelsior. The arrested militants have been identified as Irfan Ahmed Mir son of Mohammad Maqbool Mir, Irfan Ahmed Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan and Qaiser Rehman Khan son of Abdul Rehman Khan, all residents of Putkha and Suhail Ahmed Ganie son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie, a resident of Chanpora, Athoora.
They confessed having carried out grenade attack on Police Post Putkha on the directions of LeT militants Fayaz Ahmed War alias Umar and Usman.
Separately, Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) recovered a consignment of arms and ammunition from Hill Kakka and Chotian Wali Dhok and neutralised a militant hideout at Murrah village in Bafliaz area under Surankote Tehsil in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) of India on June 23, reports Daily Excelsior. Recoveries made from the hideout include one Universal Machine Gun (UMG), rounds and 222 cartridges. Security Forces have launched search operation in the area after the recoveries. However, no arrests have been made so far.
