Two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were arrested along with arms following an exchange of fire in a forested area under Mardum Police Station limits in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on March 16, reports Telangana Today. According to sources, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were out on a combing operation in the said area while they were fired upon by the Maoists. The Security Forces (SFs) retaliated leading to an exchange of fire forcing the Maoists to flee. However, the SFs could arrest two Maoists, identified as Chetram Veko, a key operative and Sudram Veko, a ‘militia platoon commander’, both carrying a cash reward of INR 100,000 each on their heads. The SFs also recovered half-a-dozen country-made firearms along with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), five kilograms of pressure cooker bombs and directional bombs.
