A militant of National Santal Liberation Army (NSLA) was arrested on January 13 in Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar District of Assam, reports Assam Tribune. The arrestee was identified as Mangal Murmu.
Separately, a United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) militant was arrested from Bhim Chapori in Sadiya District in Assam, reports The Shillong Times. Police arrested him after detecting a Facebook account which was detected to be working for ULFA-I. The arrestee was identified as Krishna Gogoi.
National Democratic Front of Bodoland-Saoraigwra (NDFB-S) on January 16 under the leadership of its president, B Saoraigwra signed a tripartite Suspension of Operations (SoO) Agreement with Government of India (GoI), reports Northeast Now. To give a boost to the peace process, the NDFB(S) has also become a signatory to the proposed comprehensive Memorandum of Settlement with the Bodo organisations. The agreement was signed by Ashutosh Agnihotri, commissioner & secretary, home & political, Assam; Satyendra Garg, joint secretary (Northeast), ministry of Home affairs and B. B Saoraigwra, president, NDFB(S).
