The United Kingdom (UK) has reduced the risk of terrorist attacks from very likely, to likely in Sri Lanka, in its most recent travel advice, reports Colombo Gazette on July 26. It says attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners such as hotels, tourist sites and places of worship. “There’s a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK interests and British nationals, from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria. You should be vigilant at this time,” the UK Foreign Office said.
