On May 5, a ‘camp commander’ of United Kuki National Army (UKNA) identified as Thangminlal Haokip (39) alias Hunter alias Tamin was shot dead by his own bodyguard at Geljang village in Old Nabil near Leimatak, under Henglep Police station in Churachandpur District of Manipur, reports The Sangai Express. Sources stated that Thangminlal Haokip was allegedly involved in the attack on oil and gas tankers on Imphal-Jiribam NH-37 near Kaimai on April 16.
Search operations were conducted by security forces (SFs) in Aimol village and Irengbam Maning in Bishnupur District of Manipur, Manipur Police reports on X on May 6. During the operation, one carbine with two magazine, one 9mm pistol with magazine, four 36 highly explosive (HE) grenade live, 50 (rounds of live ammunitions, five plastic explosive Kirke (PEK) sticks of improvised explosive device (IED) weighing approx. 750 grams, six self-loading rifle (SLR) tube launcher, one 75 detonator, eight 36 Hand Grenade arming ring, two Ballistic cartridge, one Tear shell, one C90 MK 3 grenade, two 80grenade MK-1(WP), one Bicard Strip and two walkie -talkie with one charger were recovered.
Search operations were conducted by security forces (SFs) in Nakhujang Village Hill Range in Kangpokpi District of Manipur during which one Carbine Machine Gun with Magazine, two 9mm Pistol with magazine, two Highly Explosive (HE)-36 Hand grenade, one improvised explosive device (IED) (500gm) and 16 ammunition were recovered, Manipur Police reports on X on May 4.
