Whilst ruling out a new multiparty government, Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa, on June 30, pledged to form a Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) administration with a fresh mandate, reports Daily Mirror. “We will form our own SJB government comprising 113 SJB MPs [Members of Parliament] with a fresh mandate. Do not show us carrots in the form of Premiership, state and deputy ministers as we will not accept any of these. We will form our own government with 113 of our own MPs after a fresh mandate,” Sajith said, adding, “Be ready to chase the Rajapaksa's and others who robbed public funds away from this country and to grab all the properties they have stolen from the public.” He also said, “We will also bring all those who robbed public property to book.” The protest began opposite Fort Railway station while a section of the crowd walked towards President’s House down Lotus Road. The protesters called for the resignation of both President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
