Kanglaonline reports that Security Forces (SFs) arrested two suspected Maoist Communist Party-Manipur (MCP-M) militants, identified as Leichonbam Dhanabir alias Dhana alias Evai and his wife Tongbram ningol Leichonbam ongbi Binarani alias Eche, from Kadangband Part I in Imphal West District on April 3. Two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) fitted inside empty tin cans - one weighing two kilograms and the other weighing two and half kilograms -, seven Neogel-90 explosives, five cordex detonators, one electric detonator with a one meter long wire and another detonator without wire was recovered from them. According to a Police source, the two were arrested following disclosure from the two MCP-M militants arrested on March 31 from Lairenkabi in the District.

Quoting a report published recently in the Guwahati based Seven Sisters’ Post, UCM and AMUCO warned that New Delhi’s design to offer greater autonomy or autonomous council to NSCN-IM in place of supra state body was unacceptable. The statement also listed a number of criminal activities committed by NSCN-IM on the soil of Manipur in total violation of the ceasefire ground rules.

URF in a statement signed by its secretary, information and publicity AK Pibarel said it is not right to let the outsiders claim ownership of all the professional works in the State and that the indigenous people should be the right owners of Manipur and its markets including all kinds of occupations or professions. The front has announced a 15- point ordinance as the first phase, a statement signed by URF information and publicity secretary, AK Pibarel said. Every possible step will be taken up against the non-locals in Manipur under the ordinance. According to the ordinance, the URF will impose a monthly tax on all the non-indigenous people without considering the period of their settlement in Manipur. URF also appealed the people to extend support to the ordinance imposed by the outfit and warned that stringent action will be initiated against those who try to stand against it.

Kanhai Meetei disclosed that he joined PREPAK in the year 2010 under the command of ‘Sergeant Major’ Sanjoy Singh. Further he disclosed that he was earlier arrested by Imphal East commandos in the month of December 2011. After release on bail, he again joined the group. According to his statement he began working for CorCom (Coordination Committee of seven valley based militant group), under one Abujam Lamphel alias Puremba of Changangei, ‘Second Lieutenant’ of United National Liberation Front (UNLF), in recruiting youths for militant groups. It has also stated that recently they recruited one Aheibam Johnson (16) and handed over to a group for basic training. On follow up action, Abujam Lamphel Singh was also arrested on the same day at about 6.20am from his residence.
