Kanglaonline further adds that Pukhrambam Arjun was a Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Executive Committee member. JCILPS demanded and demanded the release of Pukhrambam Arjun and the women protestors involved in the agitation for Inner Liner Permit (ILP) immediately. Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup-Military Defence Force (KYKL-MDF) ‘chairman’ Athouba Meitei, KCP-MC ‘commander-in-chief’ Nongdrenkhomba Meitei and United Revolutionary Front (URF) 'home secretary' Puyam Ruhinikumar attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively. Speaking at the occasion, Nondrenkhomba said that the outfit was set up on August 3, 2007 with a view to join the liberation movement. Now the outfit has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government and efforts are on to initiate political dialogue.

It said the general strike was called against the malpractices committed in the Agriculture department. The statement has further claimed that the outfit triggered the bomb blast at the residence of Agriculture department officer Kshetrimayum Gopendro of Wangkhei Lourembam Leikai (Imphal East District) on August 1. It had also a reflection of August 4, 1972 when United Naga Integration Council (UNIC) was merged to Congress. This little known political party had an open agenda of disintegrating Manipur so as to merge the "Naga areas of Manipur" to Nagaland. Kanglaonline reports that just 12 days before the expiry of the present term of Suspension of Operation (SoO) of the United People’s Front (UPF) and the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) with the Government, uncertainty hangs whether the two umbrella organisations of tribal underground groups will sign for extension of SoO for another term. “So far nothing positive has developed in this regard,” KNO leader Seilen Haokip said on August 10. Haokip had told on several occasions earlier that ‘there is no point extending the SoO every time it expires if there is not going to be political dialogues. Five security personnel including one lady Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) trooper and four commandos were reported to be missing, and by the evening of August 30 the missing Security Personnel were freed. Two AK47 rifles, six magazines, two 9 mm pistols, four magazines, one bullet-proof jacket and a walkie-talkie set have been reportedly confiscated from Security Forces (SFs) by the protesters. In view of the highly volatile situation, the District Administration has requisitioned Army and Assam Rifles (AR) and they have been keeping a tight vigil at Ukhrul town. Assam Tribune further adds that the protesters were demanding a settlement of the Indo-Naga issue and removal of prohibitory orders from Ukhrul town.
