During the celebration, the MNRF pledged to uphold unity, social justice, harmony and development in the Naga society of Manipur, according to a press release issued by its Information and publicity secretary, Rex. The outfit also pledged to oppose ‘colonial force’ and the divide and rule policy, human rights violation and atrocities against civilians. It also called upon all underground groups for a unified struggle. That two Assam Rifles personnel, identified as Warrant Officer Murli and Rifleman MT Santosh have been killed while two others survived with injuries in a bomb attack carried out by suspected Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) cadres at Kambang Khullen in interior Chandel District in the afternoon of March 11. However it is yet to be officially confirmed which group was responsible for the attack. The militants triggered an IED targeting the pilot vehicle (Gypsy) of a convoy of 24th Assam Rifles. The cadres belonged to the fighting group of the faction who had not taken part in the en-masse surrender of cadres of the group on the day of signing the memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 9, 2013. They were led by ‘commander’ Prithivi. One 7.65 pistol, two magazines and four live rounds concealed inside a guitar was recovered from them. In addition, 10 demand letters of ZRF signed by the outfit's ‘commander-in-chief’, six other demand notes signed by the armed group's finance director, one Honda Activa, three mobile phone handsets and one camouflage trouser have also been recovered from their possession. Identifying the four as ZRF ‘commander-in-chief’ Songlianlal Hangsing alias Lalpu (52), Kamsuanlian Mantuang alias Michael (39), Ginlalsiam Phiamphu alias Zonathan (34) and Mawirousanga Guite (25) the Police maintained that investigation revealed about the seized arms and ammunition being used in kidnapping and extortion by the ZRF cadres.

State Home Minister Gaikhangam conceded that the incidents of bomb blasts have become a serious issue. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has identified the entire state of Manipur and lower Assam region of Assam as the two areas in the northeast where the coming Lok Sabha election may be disrupted by militant outfits, reports Nagaland Post on March 28. While Meitei militant outfits under coordination committee (CorCom) may create trouble in Manipur, it is the I K Songbijit faction of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-IKS), which is being increasingly perceived as a threat in the lower Assam region. A source said all Meitei militant outfits in Manipur are being closely monitored as intelligence inputs have suggested that they would attempt to trigger violence before, and on, the day of polling. “Each of these Meitei groups have their own demands and they will try to send their message across by carrying out disruptive activities,” the source said.
