The State Investigation Agency (SIA) on December 3, recovered INR 2.9 million cash during raids at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in an alleged militant funding case, reports Daily Excelsior. The SIA said that it conducted raids at houses and premises of various suspects in Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Srinagar and Budgam. The raids were conducted in a case of funding of various Al-Badr through a network of Over Ground Workers (OGWs). “Continuing to rein in the networks of (militant) outfits with a purpose of destroying its ecosystems completely, State Investigation Agency, Kashmir conducted searches at multiple locations across Kashmir valley,” the SIA said in a statement. “The case pertains to members of proscribed (militant) organization Al-Badr based in Pakistan who with active support and connivance of Pakistani agencies, hostile to India, under a well-knit criminal conspiracy with some identified persons and OGWs of proscribed (militant) organization(s) in the Valley are raising funds for furtherance of (militant) activities in J&K,” the Agency said, adding that the money so raised is passed on or transferred through “financial markets or through unregulated channels/through cash couriers.” Read less...

ISI wants to turn local youths into addicts in order to expand its business and make youths available to terror groups on short notice, it further said. ISI is also working with Khalistani terrorists and has created a nexus of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) terrorists in Pakistan and overground workers (OGWs) in India, they added. During questioning, two hideouts constructed on the instructions of a Pakistan-based terrorist handler named Farooq Ahmad Pir alias Nadeem Usmani were revealed, with the recovery of one AK rifle, two AK magazines, 119 AK rounds, one pistol, one pistol mag, four pistol rounds, six hand grenades, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), two detonators, two wire bundles, and one water tank of approximately 100 liters capacity from the hideouts, reports Daily Excelsior. On December 23, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 14 locations across Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in a case related to spread of terrorist activities by various proscribed outfits, reported from NIA press release. The case relates to a criminal conspiracy for carrying out terrorist and subversive activities that was devised by the cadres and Over-Ground Workers (OGWs) of several proscribed organisations and their affiliations, acting under various pseudonym at the behest of their Pakistani commanders/handlers. They are involved in carrying out terrorist activities in J&K via cyberspace, targeting minorities and security personnel and causing communal disharmony. The NIA Police Station in Jammu, J&K, registered the case as RC-05/2022/NIA/JMU on June 21, 2022. He added that the maximum militants neutralised are from the terror outfit Lashkar-e- Toiba (LeT) [108], followed by Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) [35], Hizb-ul- Mujahideen (HM) [22], Al-Badr [4], and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH) [3]. He also said that year 2022 witnessed 100 fresh militant recruitments which is 37 per cent less than 2021 and among 100 fresh recruited militants 65 were killed, 17 were arrested while 18 are still active. He further stated that in 2022, “huge quantities of weapons (360) were recovered during encounters and modules’ busting which include 121 AK series rifles, 08 M4 Carbine and 231 pistols. Besides, timely seizure of IEDs, Sticky Bombs and Grenades averted major terror incidents”. Police and Security Forces (SFs), on December 31, conducted a search operation in several forward villages along the International Border (IB) in Samba District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Operations-Samba) G R Bhardwaj said the focus of the search operation was to look for any underground tunnel and create public awareness about drones being used to smuggle weapons from across the border. He said the search operation started from Chek Dhurma, the last village along the IB on December 31 morning. “We have clear-cut directions to go for frequent search operations to maintain pressure on anti-national elements to foil their nefarious designs. The searches are being carried out especially in areas having wild grass to look for any cross-border tunnel and suspicious objects,” the officer said, adding, the opportunity was also used to demonstrate drones to border dwellers so that they can immediately inform the nearest security establishment on seeing any such flying object coming from across the border or lying on the ground.
