Reports of October 31 have indicated that security forces (SFs) in separate encounters during the past 48 hours have killed eight Maoist insurgents, including three each in Dumraha and Chitwan and two in Jhumla districts. The reports further added that Maoists have killed one civilian each in Jeevanpur and Saptari VDC (Village Development Council) and abducted another in the Bajura district. In another incident, SFs killed two Maoists in an encounter at Baluwa in the Kavre district. Two pistols and an unspecified amount of ammunition were recovered from the possession of the slain insurgents.

In separate encounters, SFs killed a Maoist insurgent in the Solma area of Terhathum district, two at Baluwa in the Rautahat district and one each in Tharhari Bhanjyang, Sinduli and Dhangadi municipality in Kailali district. One Maoist was also killed by the SFs at Brahapuri in the Rautahat district during a search operation. On the same day, Maoist insurgents killed two Nepali Congress (Democratic) activists in Bardia district and abducted two other civilians from Gularia district.
