On June 6, police arrested the Warangal district convenor of the Telangana Jana Sabha (TJS) for his alleged links with left-wing extremist, Naxalite, outfit, the People's War Group (PWG). The Warangal district police chief, in a press release said, interrogation of the arrested person revealed that the formation, organisational expansion and day-to-day activities of the TJS were totally guided by the PWG. The release said the TJS had lent active logistical support to the PWG during an attack on Tirumalagiri Police station in Nalgonda district recently. It was also revealed that organisations like the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC), Virasam, Rythu Seva Samithi (RSS), Nyaya Porata Committee, Lambada Hakkula Porata Samithi were all working in close coordination with the PWG.

Some Naxalite literature, some ammunition and some incriminating documents were also seized from the camp. A senior police officer said the arrested Naxalite, during interrogation later, revealed that the camp was set up by the PWG’s Maddedh Dalam (squad), to accommodate 17 cadres for some time.

A red alert has been sounded in the forest areas bordering Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts. Police are also on alert in Warangal and Adilabad districts following reports that the PWG planned more killings. Additional forces have been deployed in Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts to track down PWG armed squads that were responsible for the killings of the 11 persons.
