According to Daily Star, a joint group of Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Rifles personnel on January 19 recovered a huge cache of sophisticated explosives, firearms and military equipment from the remote Bhaginajhiri hills of Naikkhangchhari in the Bandarban district. The cache included one M16 rifle, one submachine carbine, one .303 rifle, 20 detonators, 10 mine-fixing devices, three grenade-throwing handles, mining cable, 14 fuses and 20 kilograms gunpowder. A global positioning system, two range-finders hand microphones, walkie-talkies, five binoculars and a telescope, and antennae were also recovered during the raid.

According to Independent, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel unearthed a den of the banned Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and recovered a huge quantity of explosives and bomb-making equipments at Lalbagh in the capital Dhaka on February 8. A RAB team raided a room of a three-storied residence at the Water Works Road under Lalbagh police station and recovered three kilograms of Ammonium Nitrate, four kilograms of Lead Acid, and three kilograms of charcoal, three handmade bombs, five cocktails, four batteries, six explosive rolls, four electric detonators and some other bomb-making materials. According to Daily Star, Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) bomb expert, Shakil alias Mollah Omar, was killed during an encounter with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel. His wife and two children were also killed in bomb explosions meant to resist the raid on their hideout at Kaliajuri in Comilla town on March 13. JMB chief Abdur Rahman's son Nabil Rahman and JMB cadre Alamgir alias Bijoy alias Shaikat were arrested from the incident site. According to official sources, the raid was primarily conducted in search of JMB Majlis-e-Shura (the highest decision-making body) member Khaled Saifullah. A huge stockpile of explosives was recovered from the site.

According to Daily Star, security force personnel on March 15 arrested five militants of the Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), including the outfit’s Sherpur ‘commander’ during raids conducted in the Brahmanbaria and Sherpur districts. Three JMB militants arrested in Brahmanbaria, Sohel, Alamgir and Arafat, admitted that they had carried out bomb blasts at five places in the town on August 17, 2005. With the arrest of these two, all seven Majlish-e-Shura members of the outfit have been arrested. On April 26, Saifullah was arrested along with his wife, three children and brother from a rented house at 8, Ideal Road, Paradagair under Demra police station in Dhaka city. RAB personnel also arrested the house owner, Hafez Mohammad Ullah, for his suspected linkages with the JMB. Salahuddin was arrested a day earlier along with six of his associates from Chittagong.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel recovered two firearms, including an M-16 rifle, and 373 bullets from an abandoned bungalow in the remote Charer Khil village in Fatikchhari sub-district of Khagrachari district in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) on August 7, according to Daily Star. According to RAB sources, following the recovery, the security force personnel raided the house of Kafil Uddin in the same village and recovered one double-barrel gun and 373 bullets of M-16. The operation was reportedly launched following the confessional statement of Nasirul Islam alias Shawkat and Jamal Mohammad Tuhin, two close associates of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) cadre Nasir. The seized arms and ammunition include three AK47 assault rifles, two M16 assault rifles, two light machine guns (LMG), six sub-machine guns (SMG), one 40mm rocket launcher, 11 40mm shells, five US-made rocket launchers and five shells, 6,750 bullets, and 2,000 bullets of LMG and SMG each. The army also recovered 21 magazines of various kinds of firearms and 20 link belts. Captain Saif of the Army said "The team led by Lt Col Azimullah Bahar is still searching the area 31km off the Ali Kadam headquarters.”

Matiar Rahman of the BCP, arrested on November 13, was killed at Kushilbasha under Kumarkhali sub-district in the Kushtia district when he was leading police personnel to recover hidden firearms.
