Sentinel reports that security forces have launched an operation in Arda and Deiyung area of NC Hills district to arrest 30 DHD militants suspected to have fled their designated camp.

On December 27, the officer-in-charge of Nelli outpost and a United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) cadre were killed in an encounter at Durapani under Jagiroad police station in the Morigaon district, according to Sentinel. The encounter occurred as security forces closed in on a civilian’s residence searching for a four-member ULFA team. The police officer was injured when the militants opened fire and in the retaliatory action, one of the ULFA cadres was killed. Three other militants managed to escape. The injured police officer later succumbed to his injuries. Police recovered a .38 revolver and three rounds of bullets from the slain militant.
