Malakand Police on April 25 claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Soran Singh was killed on April 22, 2016, over political rivalry, and the claim made by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is false, reports Dawn. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Malakand Azad Khan said that a fellow PTI leader Baldev Kumar was behind the murder of Soran Singh as he wanted to avenge political rivalry. The officer said that Police had arrested six people in connection with the murder, including Baldev, and the assassins hired to kill the PTI lawmaker, and registered cases against them. DIG Khan further said that Anti-Terrorism clauses have been included in the cases as the murder invoked fear among the people of the area and minority community.

General Raheel Sharif said this on a visit to the forward lines in North and South Waziristan agencies.
