The officer was kidnapped along with four other people on January 4 from an area between Quetta and Zhob when they were coming from Islamabad in a rented car. The body with bullet wounds in the head was thrown on a road. The PAF officer Liaquat Ali Khan belongs to Talagang area in Punjab. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for killing the officer and kidnapping nine people in Qila Saifullah District.

Sayed Fazalullah Wahidi had arrived in Islamabad along with his family to get visas to travel to UK, diplomatic sources said. The former envoy had gone to a restaurant with his 12-year-old grandson when unidentified assailants arrived in two vehicles and kidnapped him, leaving the child. According to a Police official, the former governor was staying at a guesthouse in Islamabad’s F7 sector and was near Rana Market when he was abducted. Fazalullah Wahidi was considered an influential Governor as he remained very close to former President Hamid Karzai and also served as Governor of Kunar province.

Police on February 15 killed four criminals during an ongoing operation against criminals in the Katcha areas of Khanpur and Ghouspur in Shikarpur District, reports The Express Tribune. One Policeman, identified as Ali Gul Mahar, was also killed two others were injured in the exchange of fire. The operation was launched to recover three abductees, including a minor girl, from Thull abducted over eight years ago. However, the Police a woman, who along with five friends was kidnapped from Sehwan area two years ago. During the operation, the Police torched over ten houses and detained more than 10 suspects. Moreover, The suspects have been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Three abductors were killed and one abducted child was rescued in a Police encounter in the Eastern Bypass area of the provincial capital Quetta on April 10, reports Dawn. The kidnapped boy was identified as Aimal Khan (12). The Quetta Deputy Inspector General of Police, Syed Imtiaz Shah said that the kidnappers had demanded PKR 200,000 as ransom for the release of Aimal. According to details, Police raided a house in the Rind Garh area of Eastern Bypass area. During the raid, the kidnappers opened fire on police, triggering a heavy exchange of gunfire which continued for an hour. “The kidnappers were using an Afghan SIM for calling parents of the kidnapped boy,” Shah said, adding that the kidnappers had links with criminals in Afghanistan. The kidnappers killed in the encounter were identified as Ghulam Ahmed, Fazlur Rehman and Shakir.

The slain shepherds were identified as Noor Ahmed and Khushuli. According to sources, two Kalash shepherds grazing sheep in Ghari were attacked by a group of 30 militants who crossed over to Pakistan from Nuristan Province of Afghanistan. The shepherds reportedly opened fire on the militants, leading to an exchange of fire. However, the shepherds ran out of ammunition and were killed in the cross-fire. The militants abducted the shepherds and herded their sheep to Afghanistan.

The six Geofizyka Krakow workers were taken away from their vehicles on a road near the village of Drazinda, about 80 kilometers from the city of Dera Ismail Khan, two officials with security forces in the area said. A Polish foreign ministry spokeswoman tweeted that there were no Polish citizens in the group and that the Polish embassy in Islamabad is monitoring the situation. No militant group has claimed responsibility for the kidnappings. In 2008, a Polish engineer working for the firm was kidnapped by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants near the northwestern city of Attock, and beheaded several months later.
