Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre (CPN-Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal publicly shown his support to rebel candidate Laxmi Satgauwa for the post of vice chairperson of Kailari Rural Municipality in Kailali District in Province No. 7 of Nepal, reports My Republica on May 9. Although the ruling five-party alliance had agreed to give the post of chairperson of the rural municipality to CPN-Maoist Center and the post of vice-chairperson to the Nepali Congress (NC), Satgauwa, a CPN-Maoist Center member and former vice-chairperson of the rural municipality, has nominated herself as a candidate for deputy mayor. Addressing an election rally organized at Kailari Rural Municipality on May 9, Dahal said that the ruling alliance is still unclear. On the occasion, he also urged the public to vote for the party’s candidate Lajuram Chaudhary for the post of chairperson and rebel candidate Satgauwa for the post of vice-chairperson. “I heartily appeal to all of you to vote for our party’s candidates,” Dahal said. “"I would like to assure all that I will be with you along with this team for the development of this rural municipality," he added.
