Three persons, including two Government employees, were killed in rocket attacks targeting homes and cars across the 1, 2, 8, 16, and 17Districts in Kabul city in Kabul Province, reports 1tvnews.af. At least 14 rockets hit Afghan capital Kabul when Afghanistan was celebrating 101st anniversary of its independence. Sixteen others were injured in these incidents. Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Earlier, Security Forces killed five Taliban militants in Shakardara District of Kabul Province, reports Tolo News on August 17. SFs also arrested 25 Taliban insurgents and recovered weapons during the operation.
