The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) to inquire into Easter Sunday Bomb attacks on April 21, 2019, has summoned the former Sri Lankan President and current MP-elect Maithripala Sirisena on August 26, 2020, reports Colombo Page on August 17. Meanwhile, the Commission has summoned former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to appear before the Police Unit on August 21, 2020.
Meanwhile, former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director SDIG Nilantha Jayawardena on August 18 informed the PCoI probing the Easter Sunday attacks that India was a safe haven for National Thowheed Jamaat (NTJ) leader Zahran Hashim and his associates, reports Daily Mirror. Mr. Jayawardena said Zahran and his associates had travelled to India several times and had stayed there before the attacks.
