Five Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were arrested by Security Forces (SFs) in two separate incidents in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on June 13, reports Outlook. In the first incident, four CPI-Maoist cadres identified as Samaiyya Savlam (20), Baman Kovasi (26), Podiam Kistaiyya (27) and Madvi Rama (22) were arrested by SFs comprising of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), District Police and CRPF from Udatamalla forest under Pamed Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on June 13 in an anti-Naxal[Left Wing Extremism (LWE)] operation. All the arrested were involved in triggering Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts and opening fire twice to target SFs in 2019. Firecrackers and 10 iron spikes were seized from their possession. In the second incident, CPI-Maoist cadre identified as Aaytu Lekam, head of the CPI-MaoistRural Party Committee (RPC) was arrested near Berudi River in Naimed of Bijapur District. He was involved in set ablaze of four machines and a vehicle engaged in construction of a water treatment plant near Mingachal River in Naimed in April, said Police official.
