Police arrested five Naxals [Left Wing Extremists, LWEs], including three cadres of Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) and two cadres of People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) – both splinter groups of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), from Chatra District of Jharkhand and recovered arms and ammunition from them on March 2, reports The Pioneer. They used to extort contractors and businessmen. Two American made pistols, a .303 rifle looted from the Police, three other pistols and 32 cartridges were recovered from their possession. Their identities have not been reported.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a chargesheet against three cadres of Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), a splinter group of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), in a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Court in Ranchi District of Jharkhand on March 1, reports ANI. The accused include – Binod Kumar Ganjhu and his firm Bhogta Constructions, Pradeep Ram and his firm Pradeep Traders and Bindeshwar Ganjhu and his firm Maa Gange Coal Trading Pvt Ltd. Each of these extremists had a firm each registered and controlled by them to launder money extorted from contractors and businessmen. ED had earlier attached assets of the accused to the tune of INR 49.2 million.
“A prosecution complaint has been filed before the PMLA court, Ranchi against three extremists of Tritiya Prastuti Committee and their three firms where these extremists used to collect funds through extortion of the contractors, coal traders, transporters in Magadh Amrapali Coal block area of Jharkhand,” ED said.
