Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki on February 7 announced that local elections will be held on May 13, reports The Himalayan Times. The Government has decided to hold the local level elections on May 13 in a single phase during the meeting of the Council of Ministers. It may be noted that the Election Commission (EC) had recommended the Government to hold the election in one phase on May 18. The EC had also advised the Government not to make any significant changes in the election law to hold the election on time.
