Pakistani troops shelled forward posts violating the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri sector in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) for the third consecutive day on April 8, reports Daily Excelsior. A defence spokesman said, “About 8.45 pm on Wednesday, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and mortar shelling along the LoC in the Rajouri sector.” The Indian Army retaliated befittingly to the Pakistan shelling.
Meanwhile, Army destroyed artillery shell fired by Pakistani forces in forward village near the LoC in Mankot sector in Mendhar tehsil (revenue unit) of Poonch District of J&K on April 8, reports Daily Excelsior. The shell had landed near a house in the Mankot area of Mendhar sector during cross-border shelling on April 6 and was noticed by some villagers, who informed the Army. Later, the Army Ordinance team rushed to the spot and destroyed the unexploded shell safely.
