A red alert has been sounded at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) for a period of ten days (August 10- August 20), India Today reports on August 10. The Odisha Government took the call after terror outfit al Qaeda threatened to blow up the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi ahead of Independence Day. Airport Director Pravat Ranjan Beuria told that the number of security personnel deployed at BPIA will be doubled. He added that 13 watch towers on the premises will be manned by teams of two each round-the-clock. Beuria said 67 CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor activity at the Bhubaneswar airport.
