Latehar and Manika Police in a combined operation arrested three cadres of Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), and recovered ammunition and a scooty in Latehar District of Jharkhand on October 19, reports The Pioneer. One of the three arrestees is identified as Vinay Singh Chero (29), a ‘sub zonal commander’ having 22 cases against him, and is the money arranger for the outfit as he extracts money from districts Ramgarh and Chatra. The other two are Vishwanath Oraon, an ‘area commander’, and Sujit Oraon, a cadre, are having a single case each against them. Police recovered 200 live cartridges, levy receipt book, six cell phones, four diaries and one scooty. Superintendent of Police (SP), Latehar, Anjani Anjan said the trio were involved in the encounter on September 28, 2021, and we had recovered eight weapons from them in this encounter. Earlier, South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) had reported a Deputy Commandant of Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ), and a cadre of the JJMP, were killed in an exchange of fire between the Security Forces (SFs) and the Left Wing Extremists (LWEs) during a combing operation in Saliya forest area in Latehar District of Jharkhand on September 28, 2021.
