Deputy Commissioner of DMP Krishna Pada Roy stated on December 1 that the arrestees are members of Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) and other Myanmar-based outfits. "We do not have information about as to whether they went to India or not. We suspect that the arrestees have close ties with those accused in the Burdwan blast. Prima facie, they trespassed into Bangladesh. They are involved with the militant group RSO. They studied in 'madarasa' as a cover up and operate militant activities underneath," he added. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch, Saidur Rahman said, "They are Rohingya militants. They have links with RSO, Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) and Netherlands-based NGO Global Rohingya Center (GRC)." Five detonators, two gel-based bomb materials and 500 kilograms of explosives were seized from them, Police said, adding that the arrest came in line with intelligence shared with India.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) launched an operation against from the Northeast, based in the interior areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) on November 22, reports The Telegraph. As a result, the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) rebels have fled the jungles of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. This came to light when Border Security Force (BSF), on December 4, arrested NLFT ‘commander’ Amarjeet Debbarma from the Raisyabari market in the Gandacherra subdivision in Dhalai District .High-level sources in the Special Branch of the State Police said they had received feedback from sources from across the border that in the past 12 days, six hideouts of NLFT, Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) and National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants had been destroyed and At least seven suspected NLFT militants and allegedly one each of HNLC and NDFB militants have been arrested. The most successful operation against militants had been carried out in the Mandiracherra hideout of Tripura’s NLFT on the border areas of Khagracherri and Bandarban Districts, on November 27 by a joint team of RAB and BGB, when armed militants opened fire on the advancing Bangladesh Security Forces (SFs), and SFs retaliated which killed a number of NLFT militants dead on the spot, though the number of slain militants has not been ascertained so far. The rest of the militants fled towards Bandarban District and SFs recovered a large quantity of ammunition. SFs have also recovered a .9mm pistol, 70 rounds of 7.62 SLR, 11 hand grenades, 17 rounds of rocket-launchers, 19 wireless sets, two very high frequency wireless sets, nine G3 magazines, 1,200 detonators, 18 sets of detonator cable, seven magazines of sub-machine guns, one pistol and a revolver. Further, sources said after the operations commenced on November 22, senior NLFT ‘commander’ Karna Debbarma was arrested on November 23, reports The Telegraph. An official stated that “According to our report, Karna Debbarma guided the BGB and RAB troopers to five other hideouts of the NLFT at Shilacherri, Mandiracherra, Taglakandai and Naraicherra camps. Senior NLFT ‘commander ‘Rathamoni Debbarma was forced to flee with ‘lieutenants’ and took shelter in the Kasalong camp. However, this camp, too, was dismantled by Bangladeshi Security Forces. National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Professor Mizanur Rahman at a roundtable in the Dhaka city's Jatiya Press Club on December 9 said that the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) had set the standards of how to try war criminals transparently, reports The Daily Star. Ripping into the international communities, Rahman said "You raise questions about the standards, but we have set standards through the fairest of trials of war criminals with the laws of the land which didn't happen anywhere including Nuremberg, Yugoslavia, Cambodia and Rwanda." Meanwhile, Arun Das (55), a prosecution witness, on December 9 alleged that Razakar commander Siraj Master Alias Koshai Siraj had stabbed and shot his father Kanek Das to death in very front of him, reports The Independent. He made the allegation at the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) in case for crimes against humanity he allegedly committed during the Liberation War in 1971. Narrating the heinous killing of his father he had witnessed on May 13, 1971, he said “We were fleeing hearing the hue and cry around. As we came out of the room, I saw Siraj Master along with some other razakar members approaching us with machetes and rifles. Siraj and his people caught my father while he tried to escape. My mother and I begged for my father’s life but all went in vain. Siraj swooped with a machete and hit my father. My father got his fingers severed as he resisted. Then Siraj shot my father and left the place assuming him dead. My father breathed his last taking a sip of water my mother managed to bring with the rim of her sari.”

"We have largely neutralised radical groups like the JMB (Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh- JMB) or HuJI (Harkat-ul-Jihad), but now they seem to have found sanctuaries across the border," Haque added. Haque further stated, "If we think we have neutralised a group and sit easy, it is big mistake. There is no room for complacency. We need to closely monitor their activities even if a few terrorists are left in the fray. Because they may well set up bases across the border, make fresh recruitment, acquire weapons and plan attacks".

The North 24 Parganas Police of West Bengal has stumbled upon a fund channel with its roots in Basirhat and Bongaon Districts in West Bengal, Perundurai in Tamil Nadu and Bangladesh, The Times of India reports on December 26. Police have identified at least seven bank accounts where funds as much as INR 10 million were transferred in each of these accounts from Tamil Nadu every month before the money went to Bangladesh. Further investigation suggests that 50,000 suspected Bangladeshis are working as construction workers and labour contractors in the Erode District of Tamil Nadu. Police got to know about this Tamil Nadu link during interrogation of Amir Ali, hailing from Mandir Hat at Hasnabad in North 24 Parganas District, arrested on December 23, 2014. Acting on the tip off , Police rounded up five members of the Tamil Nadu gang, said Superintendant of Police (SP) Tanmoy Roy Chowdhury. Ali happens to be their linkman in Bengal. But the huge illegal fund transfer racket didn't come to light so easily. The lead came after the Police pursued the probe for more than a week following the arrest of a suspected Bangladeshi Masud Billa alias Rahul Das. Billa was rounded up on December 12, 2014 from Soladanga, two kilometres from the Ghojadanga Police Station in North 24 Parganas along the Indo-Bangla border.
