The arrestees included area commander Dan Bahadur Harijan, Pinku Kewat and Bhagawati Dhobi. An unidentified armed group attacked a Police Post in Syaulibang of Pyuthan District on February 6, killing one Policeman, identified as Suman G.C., reports Nepal News. The group also looted all 10 weapons including five 3-knot-3 rifles from the post. Three Policemen missing after the attacks came in contact in the morning of February 7 (today). The identity of the armed group is yet to be ascertained. However, the initial suspicion points to a little known armed outfit Mongolian Mukti Morcha. Chief District Officer of Pyuthan K. S. Budhathoki told myrepublica.com, "This group had been reported to be involved in sporadic violence in Rolpa but had so far not been known to be active in Pyuthan."

Mongolian Mukti Morcha (MMM), a little known underground armed outfit, claimed responsibility for the attack on the Syaulibang Police Post in the Pyuthan District on February 9, reports Nepal News. A man, who identified himself as ‘platoon commander’ Sangharsha of the MMM, called Annapurna Post and claimed responsibility for the attack. Sangharsha also informed that four MMM cadres had been injured in the attack. The group is believed to have been formed by a breakaway faction of the CPN-Maoist.

A high-level US Government official informed on February 12 that the US was looking into removing the terrorist tag off the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (Unified CPN-Maoist), earlier known as the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist). “The more they (Maoists) act within a political system and abandon past practice of terrorism and violence, the easier it will be for us to finish this review. That is what we are doing. We are trying to gather about what they are doing and what is going on. Issuing a statement in Kathmandu, the MMT said that it has formed the team under the coordination of Bhola Prasad Mukhiya with Bishwonath Pandit, Dhani Mandal and Anil Kumar Jha as members. The statement signed by Raman Singh expressed hope that the Government would address the equitable demands of the Madheshis. As per the agreement, the Government will take the responsibility of the security of the talks’ team of the LTTI and will treat the outfit in a political manner. The outfit on its part will not carry out any armed activities during the period of dialogue. The agreement also includes that the outfit will provide the names of its detained cadres to the Government and the latter will release the cadres after investigation. Central commander of the Committee, Surya Bahadur Ghimire, said, "Some 25,000 trained members will launch an armed movement throughout the country if our demand is not met."
