An Army soldier was killed after terrorists attacked a military post in Janikhel area of Bannu District in the night of January 13, reports Dawn. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on January 13 arrested two Islamic State (IS) terrorists during a raid at Dargai road in Charsadda District, reports ARY News. Two terrorists were killed in a shootout with Police on January 16 after they killed a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier on January 15 and left his body in the mountains near Karmukhel village of Lakki Marwat District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports Dawn. FC soldier Rafiullah, who was posted in Balochistan, had come to his native village on leave. On January 14, he left home at noon on a motorcycle, but did not return till evening and the next day his bullet-riddled body was found in the mountains near Karmukhel area. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police Chief, Moazzam Jah Ansari declared that Islamic State group’s Khorasan chapter (IS-K) a bigger threat to peace in the province than Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Dawn reports on January 21. “I see IS-K as a bigger threat to peace and security in the province compared to the TTP in near future,” Ansari stated. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the SFs conducted the IBO on the reported presence of terrorists in the area. "During the search of the area, a large number of weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive device preparation material was recovered from the hideout," the ISPR said.
