The rebels fled from the area without suffering any casualties. Also, on June 23 government troops killed a LTTE rebels in the Nagarkovil general area. On the same day, in a separate incident troops fired at two suspected LTTE cadres proceeding on a bicycle in the Muhamalai general area. The two might have been the Army said, though there was no independent confirmation.
